Caleb’s first band concert

Caleb, before his first band concert, I asked if I needed ear plugs, but caleb said “NO!”. I will post more after the concert.

Highlights from Saturday’s game

Another big loss this week. We were the home team playing Lakewood at Dixie’s field, not sure how that works out to be a home game, but it did. Needless to say, we still have not found our first win yet. Hopefully we will find it in one of the last three games. Here are some highlights of Caleb from Saturdays’ game. He is #12 in white. Enjoy

Not just another Saturday

Caleb’s football team did not lose this past week. Of course, they didn’t play, but hey, it wasn’t a loss.

Since Caleb didn’t have a football game, we thought we would have a little fun. Someone at church advertised for a windsurfing class, so Caleb and I signed up. Below are some shots of Caleb cutting up some surf. However, you notice there are none of me. That is because of the last picture posted. Abbey cut her foot on some barnacles in the water and it looked bad enough to take her to a clinic to be looked at. Since we were there with friends, we left Caleb to his lessons, and Lori and I took Abbey to the doctors. No stitches were needed, but a good cleaning was. So I missed out on the rest of my lessons. I guess I will just have to go out on another day. Maybe, leave Abbey with someone next time. ;)

Notice Anything?

What is different?

Another step closer

The game on Saturday was a good close game. The Bandits scored on the opening drive, but failed to get the extra point conversion (see video). We scored with a minute left to go in the first half, mostly due to a 70 yd run where we were tackled inside the 5 yard line. Our extra point was successful, and we went up 7-6. We held that lead until 3 minutes left to go in the game. We went 4 and out and were unable to move the ball out of our end of the field. This setup the Bandits with a short field which they took advantage of. We prevented another extra point to make the score 12-7. We got the ball back with just under 3 minutes to go, but for a second straight possession, could not move the ball.

The video show Caleb’s stop of the PAT and a good pancake block during the game. He also had 1 carry for 2 yards (Not in the video).

Look what’s eating the cat’s food

It wasn’t a Loss

On Saturday, the Chiefs faced another Countryside team (they have 3 JV teams), and came away with their first non-loss of the season. It wasn’t a win, but we will take the progress. They played really well, only committed a few penalties, and no turnovers. The offense held the ball for about 13 of the 16 first half minutes. We were able to run 16 offensive plays in the 1st half. Our defense was only on the field for 4 plays. The second half was a little more balanced. Regulation ended with a 0-0 score. Overtime is 1 possession each from the 10 yard line. We got the TD and extra point, but we also gave up the TD and extra point to countryside. The game ended in a 7-7 tie. So we scored our first points and we also avoided a loss. Now we just have to get our first win. Next up, at North East.

Check the schedule for a game you would like to see.

Here is Caleb’s 6 yard run from the game on Saturday.

Dear Mr. Obama

Please take 2 minutes and please watch.

Making a long day even longer.

Well Saturday was a long day. It was picture day for the football team so we needed to be to the field by 7:00am for a game that started at 9:30. Caleb is still on the border of making weight, and due to the pictures we had to come fully dressed. I think Caleb enjoys making me stressed. After pictures he didn’t want to strip down to his girdle for weight-ins. He only wanted to take off his shoulder pads. I had to remind him that he only gets two chances to make weight. If he doesn’t make it the first time, then everything but his girdle would have to come for the second chance, but he made it.

The game was a blowout, but it was not in our favor. We lost 30-0. We has 3 or 4 turnovers, numerous penalties, and allowed another punt return for a touchdown. All the progress they had made from the previous game was lost in this one. Caleb had two carries one resulted in a fumbled exchange between the the quarterback and the running back, but the second resulted in a 5 yd carry. He also had a pretty good tackle in the game, I just need to find that one to post.

We got home about 11:30 and had to get ready for Rock the Universe at Universal Studios. I was driving the church van with about 15 teenagers to Orlando. We left the church about 1pm, doors opened at 4. We kept all the Jr High kids with us. We were able to Jeremy Camp, Third Day, and Stellar Kart. We were even able to get in some rides. I still wasn’t able to convince Caleb to ride the Mummy with me yet. We left Universal about 12:30am. Caleb and I finally arrived home about 3:00am.

I am getting old.
